The French horn is a wind instrument of the brass family. It is sometimes majestic and triumphant, soft and slightly melancholy. The French horn is present in symphony orchestras, the concert bands and marching bands. The musician produces notes by vibrating the lips on the mouthpiece. His left hand activates three (four or five) pallets (or more rarely valves), to change the pitch of the sound. The right hand is placed in the bell to support the instrument, and also helps to correct the accuracy of the pitch or to create a muted sound.
